The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot’s brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they’re particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the Q5’s shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It’s also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn’t have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it’s very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It’s also very quiet and operates when you’re at work or school. The only thing it doesn’t have that you don’t get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It’s also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don’t adhere well and isn’t able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto vacuum and mop-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It’s the best robot automatic hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it’s in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it’s not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors’ Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It’s more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we’ve not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It’s also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it’s an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It’s also somewhat expensive, but it’s not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you’re willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs’ range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock’s S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum’s trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum that vacuums and mops makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn’t quite reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with an attribute known as “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, which regulates the power of the vacuum mop cleaner robot and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we’ve examined. It’s self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any “no go” areas that you’ve marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we’ve examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn’t able to double as a bin for emptying.
