Connecting you to the Web3 world
In an exciting development, Brazil and Argentina are taking big steps into the future by using blockchain technology to create secure digital identity systems. This move promises more safety, efficiency, and easier processes for their people.
Brazil’s National Identity Upgrade
Brazil has announced a plan to bring blockchain technology into its national identity program. This change will first roll out in three states: Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, and Paraná. These states will begin issuing digital identification documents using blockchain.
Serpro, Brazil’s national data processing service, is the brains behind this blockchain platform. Alexandre Amorim, Serpro’s president, explains why blockchain is perfect for this task. Blockchain’s features, like immutability and decentralization, help protect personal data and prevent fraud.

Over 214 million Brazilians will soon have digital IDs on the blockchain.
For this service, Brazil will use the private blockchain developed by Serpro, Brazil’s national data processing service.
But that’s not all. Brazil is also planning to launch its central bank digital currency, Drex. This shows their commitment to using digital solutions for better governance and finance.
Argentina Joins the Digital Revolution
Meanwhile, Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is following the trend. They’re combining administrative processes with blockchain tech. Starting in October, residents can access their identity documents, such as birth certificates, marriage records, and academic verifications, through a digital wallet.
QuarkID, created by the Web3 company Extrimian, is the technology behind this project. It uses zkSync Era, an Ethereum scaling protocol that makes things even more secure.

QuarkID will serve as the digital identity for citizens, offering governmental and verification services.
Guillermo Villanueva, CEO of Extrimian, sees this as a huge step for Latin American governance. He believes this move could set a new standard for using technology to help the public.
In a world where data security and efficiency are top priorities, Brazil and Argentina are leading the way. Blockchain technology is not just a buzzword; it’s becoming a real solution for better, safer, and more convenient living.
